As the meaning of the song is about an individual with anxiety in which the main band member is trying to help and support them, I feel like people listening to the song will relate to the meaning behind it whether or not they feel deeply about this subject or not, as anxiety is very common yet unspoken about disorder. In addition, the lyrics of the song are repeated throughout the song which makes the song very catchy as the lyrics are easy to remember. The song begins with an upbeat instrumental which features a very fast tempo which I think really captures people’s attention to the song. I feel like this particular song will appeal to my target audience as it is a fairly modern song that is created by a very popular and current indie band. As most music videos and songs follow a storyline based on a relationship, I feel that I could research into a lot of detail, a number of music videos based on this topic, making it easier for me to gain inspiration for my own music video idea including elements such as camera shots, editing techniques and mise-en-scene. I could chose to base my music video on many different subjects such as a break up, relationship or even a more hard subject based on drug taking (for example). For example, the first word that is mentioned in the song is ‘She’, which could perhaps link to a previous girlfriend, therefore the song could be based on a relationship or break up.Īs this song doesn’t have an obvious meaning behind it, I feel that I will be able to create a really effective music video with an original meaning behind it based on my ideas.
However, I think that this meaning behind the song isn’t overly clear to distinguish, personally I think that there are many possible meanings behind the song. The song is portraying a story about someone with social anxiety which is very common mental disorder that people face in the modern day. It is about him trying to convince his friend to leave his social isolation ( which links to the name of the song ‘undercover’) and discover new things. The main meaning behind the song itself is based on a true occurrence that the main singer of the band has experienced. I personally really like this song and have listened to it many times as I find it has such a range of different paces and beats which make it interesting to listen too. I believe that this song will work really well to make an effective and interesting music video as the song has many different meanings and interpretations, therefore this makes it easy to create a unique and imaginative video to accompany the song.
